Wood Handled Steel punch - Hand held. The Anvil Brand Wood handle E Head forepunch is a steel punch for horseshoes. This is a handled-style horseshoe nail forepunch. The forepunch is used on horseshoes after heating to pre-punch the nails hole. It generally does not penetrate completely through the horseshoe, but as the style of forepunch indicates: City, Regular, E-head, it is used to make the "seat" for the nail head. Then this forepunched hole is lined up on the anvil, over the pritchel hole, and the pritchel knocks out the rest of the punch, making the horseshoe nail hole. Size: 17" Long, 3 1/4" head.
