The Anvil Brand clinch gouge is used to gouge out the hoof wall and recess the he horseshoe nail, flush with the hoof wall. This secures the clinch and makes the nail flush so that it doesn't catch on anything and injure the horse. Made to use with either hand, on either side of the hoof.
