Generally steel horseshoes are put on horses for hoof protection. At times aluminum is used buy mostly for the sport horse, performance breeds and therapeutic reasons.

Typically, the farrier will fit the shoe to the hoof. Simple measurements aren’t always successful because of the hoof condition and hoof wall itself. Almost all horseshoes work from a size 0 both larger and smaller.

Knife making is less demanding than forging large items and draft horse shoes. Nonetheless, most people buy 1 anvil and want it to work for all of their forging needs. Anvils range in working size from 70lbs on up to 260lbs and more. A 100lb anvil will be an ample size solely for knifemaking-not necessarily swords and machetes though.

Most working blacksmiths and farriers use propane. Some folks enjoying traditional blacksmith techniques and competitors often have both.

Most forge burners do not have any warranty after 30 days. Some may offer no warranty at all because the wear in the burners is directly related to use time.

Without turning the tank on, hook the gas line directly to the forge on the fitting. This will be the same as connecting to a gas grill at home. See an on-line video for clarification.

There are many creative ways anvils are attached, from bolts, to bands, to simple border-corners mounted on the block, and so on.

Typically the re-liner kits are specifically made for the forge to be re-lined. In the event you have other sizes than what you have currently, simply remove the old and cut the new to fit.

Most folks shoeing the horse will have a forge to heat the steel horseshoe. If you are using sizes that allow for cold shaping you simply shape the shoe to the prepared hoof.

In our shop we simply use WD-40 to spray on any metal surfaces we don’t want to rust, after we are done working there for the day. We do this daily and use a shop rag to wipe off any excess.

 All shoes and pads are sold by the pair (2 shoes) unless otherwise stated.

The returns policy is very important to us. We recognize that our customers may need to return items for a variety of reasons. We are very helpful to those who need to return an item and allow all returns within 30 days of purchase. No questions! Items must be new, in original container, and unused. You will be responsible for all return freight charges. After 30 days,  returns must be pre-approved and have a 30% restocking fee, if accepted. We do not accept returns on used merchandise or weathered items. Any product over 90 days from the date of purchase must be pre-approved. When returning items, please make sure a copy of the packing slip or your information is in the box along with the item/s. Once we receive the item/s, a refund will be issued back to the original payment method.

All online orders are offered $10 shipping unless the order contains oversized items. Oversize items include anvils, some stands, some forges, and bar stock.  Orders with the $10 shipping option will either be shipped USPS or UPS Ground.
